Quick Start Guide
Here's what you need to do to play your first game over LanAnywhere.
1. Sign up for a LanAnywhere account.
2. Login to your account and set up the passwords on your game slots.
3. Make sure each player downloads the LanAnywhere connector available here.
4. Each player can now log into our server using the LanAnywhere
Connector and the slot id and password that you've just set up.
5. Once all of the players are connected, all they have to do is start
the desired game and go into the LAN lobby, or create a LAN game, the
exact name varies with each game.
6. When you are done playing, you can just right click on the
LanAnywhere connection icon in your System Tray (bottom right corner of
the screen) and click Disconnect.
I just signed up for LanAnywhere and the LanAnywhere Connector and I get a message "Error 691 - Bad username/password" when I try to login!
Make
sure that you are using a slot name / password with LanAnywhere
Connector and not your LanAnywhere management account login.
These slot names can be found when you login to your LanAnywhere management account. So if you signed up as "jack", you will be able to play using jack-1, jack-2 and so on.
I can't see my friends in the LAN lobby, even though all of them are logged into LanAnywhere
Before trying anything, make sure that you've disabled your Windows Firewall and any other firewall software.
This can also happen when one or more players are using NAT and have IP
addresses in the same network block. For example, if player A has the
LAN IP of 192.168.1.100 and player B has the LAN IP of 192.168.1.150
then such a problem can happen.
To solve this problem, each of the players with similar IP addresses
have to connect to LanAnywhere while checking the "Force All Traffic
over VPN" option of the LanAnywhere Connector.
Still can't get it to work? Ask in the Support Forum.
Why can't I access web sites when I am logged into LanAnywhere?
To maintain the best performance for all of our users, you cannot browse the web while you are connected. We do however allow IM protocols such as AIM, Yahoo and MSN.
When I connect to LanAnywhere, I get a message about being logged in at multiple locations from AOL Instant Messenger
This is normal. Your AIM client just reconnected to AOL's servers through our gaming server while being already connected to AOL. AIM will reconnect directly to AOL once you disconnect from the LanAnywhere service. Please note that we do not, under any circumstances, record any such traffic that passes through our gaming servers.
